Ratings for Berkeleytime

COMING SOON

Streamlining course decision-making for students

In the Fall 2024 semester, I designed and shipped a new "Ratings" feature on Berkeleytime, a student-run online course discovery platform that simplifies and improves the course discovery experience. As the only designer for this initiative, I spearheaded cross-functional collaboration and feedback from front-end, back-end, and UXR.

Problem

With thousands of courses being offered each semester, UC Berkeley students inform their course selection choices through peer reviews. However, without an existing feature in the current Berkeleytime platform, students currently turn to external crowd-sourced sites like Reddit or RateMyProfessor, making the course selection process tedious and slow.

Outcome

Balancing user needs and technical restraints, I designed the end-to-end experience for a built-in course review system to provide users with easy access to accurate, consolidated feedback from the student community. The feature is on the roadmap to be launched to 45,000+ students in late 2024.
